Call for Abstract

The scientific committee of AHIMA World Congress (AWC) Healthcare Information Summit has issued a call for abstracts for its conference on 25 and 26 of October 2018, at the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
 
The summit is organized by the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association), AWC, and the AWC UAE Chapter. This event will shed light on exceptional HIM professionals who demonstrate excellence and innovation through their initiatives and practice to promote and advocate for high quality research and best practices in health information, and to actively contribute to the development and advancement of health information professionals in the Middle East.
 
The committee invites speakers to submit abstracts for presentations on the Main Objectives and Program Themes below, which are designed to engage participants to:
 
1. Master new methods to utilize healthcare data to optimize revenue and patient care! (Coded Data and Clinical Documentation)
  • Increase reimbursement revenue
  • Decrease rate of insurance denials
  • Optimize patient care, safety, and outcomes
  • Protect healthcare data and information
2. Design processes and procedures for acquiring healthcare data and translating that data into usable information for CDI and Data Analytics/Informatics.
  • Identify gaps in documentation
  • Engage/train physicians in proper documentation practices
  • Ensure accurate public reporting and facility/physician profiling
  • Improve quality measures and patient satisfaction
  • Foster communication between physicians, coders, CDI team, and administrators
3. Learn how to use AHIMA best practices to analyze healthcare data—operations, finance, clinical, research, etc. (Data Analytics, Informatics and Information Governance)

Presentations will be selected based on: relevance, best practices, case studies and completeness of the required information submitted. Participants want real life examples of what works and practical take-away tools/solutions.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES
All abstracts submitted for presentations by 1 June 2018 will be assessed and prospective speakers will be notified about the results by 13 July 2018. Guidelines for submissions are available on the AWC Healthcare Information Summit website: www.menaconference.com (PDF).
 
Speakers are advised to keep the following guidelines in mind when planning both the abstracts and presentations:
 
Abstracts must contain original scientific data collected by the author(s). All reports must be based on work that has already been completed. No studies "in progress" will be accepted. The abstracts will be scored on the following criteria:
  • Originality
  • Concept and design
  • Presentation
  • Applicability
  • Other characteristics
Language: All abstracts are to be written in English. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to edit abstracts for grammar and clarity.
 
Submission: All abstracts must be submitted by 1 June 2018, to cheryl.cato@ahima.org and andra.mae@menaconference.com , using the Abstract Form which can be accessed at www.menaconference.com.  The abstract should be limited ta maximum of 500 words and should include the following:
 
  • Title of abstract
  • Names and contact details of author(s) {organization, city /country, email, phone numbers, fax numbers and mailing address}. Please indicate the name of the presenter/ clearly and attached the author’s biography with the abstract.
  • The abstract must include the following headings clearly: Purpose, Methods, Results and Conclusions.

Abstract submission will be acknowledged via email. If you do not receive an email within one week of submission or have any additional queries, please email cheryl.cato@ahima.org or andra.mae@menaconference.com
 
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • All abstracts must be prepared using the abstract submission guidelines.
  • Each presenter may submit a maximum of two abstracts.
  • Each abstract submission must indicate if the material was published or presented in any prior Congress or if it received any awards
  • All presenters will be registered to attend the Conference if abstract is accepted and must be present at the time of the Congress.
  • A certificate of appreciation will be given to all the presenters to honor their presentation.
  • Presenters must not use the session as a marketing opportunity for products/equipment
  • Travel, accommodation and visa process will be provided to presenters of accepted abstracts
