On behalf of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the AHIMA World Congress, and the Scientific and Organizing Planning Committees, I invite you to participate in the first AHIMA World Congress Middle East Healthcare Information Summit, on 19-20 October, 2017. This summit builds on a legacy of six (6) years of successful HIM Congress events and it will enable the launch of an era in this region in which the importance of reliable, trustworthy data and information are seen as basic to safe, quality care for individuals, and essential to improving the health of populations.
The first AHIMA World Congress Chapter in the UAE (formed in May of this year) will take a leading role in the preparation, support and success of the summit.
The Scientific and Organizing Committees have worked together to bring to you an event that offers meaningful and timely professional development in an effective sharing and learning format. This event has been crafted specifically to help prepare health information professionals for the changing demands in healthcare delivery, and data and information capture, use, processing, sharing and reporting.
General sessions and the concurrent tracks during the two-day summit have been designed to ensure that broadly applicable topics and developments are provided to all participants. The track sessions will focus on clinical coding, clinical documentation improvement, and data analytics. General sessions and concurrent tracks will utilize presentations and panels, as well as interactive approaches to heighten participant engagement in and benefit from the sessions. Subject matter experts from the US and region will be featured throughout the program.
Participants will benefit from the ability to interact with other attendees during break and meal times, and from the opportunity to visit with great local companies and vendors of health information technologies and services in the exhibit area.
This event will provide those involved in health information management, informatics, data analysis, clinical documentation improvement, coding, administration, policy making, insurance, direct patient care, and technology services, with an opportunity to present, share and learn about global and regional challenges in health information, and solutions for addressing them.
The summit brings together healthcare colleagues from the Middle East, America, and Europe to collaborate, educate, inform, and interact. We believe the event will provide the best in learning and networking through strong educational sessions, and exhibits displaying the latest in health information solutions and technologies.
I also encourage you to plan to attend one of our workshops on Saturday, 21 October (day after the summit). We will be offering a number of educational trainings and certification preparation workshops. Topics may include CCA, CCS-P, CCS, CDIP, CHDA, Informatics, and DRGs.
We look forward to seeing you 19‒21 October, at the first AHIMA World Congress Middle East Healthcare Information Summit and the AHIMA workshops!
